Katherine Rother wins the Impact Award for her research on carbon offsets

Katherine Rother was awarded the Impact Award for her outstanding contributions in her work “Voluntary Carbon Offsets in Online Retailing.”

The "Impact Award" is presented to a research project featured at the SAMS conference that significantly impacts (1) marketing practice, (2) marketing science, or (3) research methodologies within the marketing field.

Katherine Rother has been awarded the 2024 Impact Award  for her research on what drives voluntary carbon offset (VCO) purchases in an e-commerce environment. The study suggests that retailers may choose one of two approaches: focusing on either the social or environmental impact and adjusting prices based on that focus.
