Postdoc Andrea Bublitz is currently at Columbia Business School, New York, for a one-year research visit.
We are happy to announce that our Postdoc Andrea Bublitz is currently at Columbia Business School, New York, for a one-year research visit to collaborate with Prof. Gita Johar on several projects in the domain of news consumption and misinformation. Since 2007, Gita Johar is Meyer Feldberg Professor for Business at Columbia Business School. She is a former editor of the Journal of Consumer Research. Her publications in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Marketing Research, Psychological Science, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology have been cited nearly 6000 times.
In one project, Gita and Andrea explore how rather than showing personalized news feeds incidentally exposing consumers to contradicting views and opinions has the potential to lower affective polarization by increasing the processing fluency of other ideas.
In a second project (in collaboration with Eli Sugerman and Prof. Gergely Nyilasy), they further uncover the mere sharing effect and show why consumers perceive news to be more truthful after sharing it with their social network.
